Laser Surgical Technology Clinical Benefits of Laser Surgery Laser surgery is recognized in human and veterinary medicine for its benefits to both patient and surgeon. While several types of lasers are used for different applications, the primary device for soft tissue surgery in small and mixed animal practices is a carbon dioxide laser. We at the Pet Animal Hospital, Inc, use lasers with many beneficial outcomes. Reduced Pain The CO2 laser beam seals nerve endings as it cuts through tissue.  This reduces the amount of pain the patient feels during and after surgery. Reduced Bleeding The CO2 laser beam cauterizes and seals small blood vessels as it cuts. This laser energy achieves hemostasis and provides the surgeon with a bloodless surgical field in most procedures. Reduced Swelling There is no physical contact between the laser and the surgical region, eliminating the tearing and bruising of tissue associated with traditional surgical methods. Lymphatic vessels are also sealed. Reduced Infection Laser energy acts as an antibacterial agent by producing high temperatures, effectively eliminating microorganisms. Quicker Recovery As a result of all of the above, laser surgery provides the benefit your clients will appreciate the most: a quicker recovery for their pet.   Read more...

Frequently Asked Questions Q. Do I need to make an appointment to bring my pet to the hospital? A. Yes. We try to see all patients on an appointment basis, so we request that all appointments be made in advance for a reserved time. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible so we can make it available to another patient. If an emergency does occur in off business hours, call our number and an answering service will forward you to the appropriate telephone number.   Q. What payment methods can I use to pay for services rendered? Can I be billed? A. We accept cash, personal checks, and visa and mastercard. Payment is required at the time of your visit. This reduces bookkeeping, secretarial time and mailing expenses; thereby reducing the cost of your pet's care.   Q. How much does it cost to board my cat or dog at the Pet Animal Hospital? What do you feed them during their stay? A. The cost to board you cat is $10.00/day and your dog will be $14.00/day. We feed Hill's Science Diet to all boarders, but you are welcome to bring your pet's regular food. We also encourage you to bring items from home that you think will make your friend's stay more enjoyable.   Q. How do you base your service costs on my pet? A. Our fees are based on time, hospital services, and quantity of drugs and supplies used. Consultation with the doctor is considered an office visit and will be charged accordingly.  Read more...
