Understanding what vaccines your dog needs to have a long and health life can seem overwhelming. Espically if it's your puppy or if you have adopted an older dog that needs thier shots updated.
The purpose of this page is to give you a better understand of all the vaccines and they time frame it should be given. Of course the staff at Pet Animal Hospital are happy to explain any of it further if you need.
Vaccines and Schedules:
The following Vaccines should follow this schedule:
Puppy - First Vaccine - 6 weeks old
Next Vaccine (Booster)- 9 to 10 weeks old
Final Vaccine (Booster)- 20 to 22 weeks old
A yearly Booster should be given after the finally Puppy Booster Shot.
Adult - If the Vaccine history is unknown:
First Vaccine - Given as soon as possible after acquiring the dog.
Next Vaccine (Booster) - 3 to 4 weeks later
A yearly Booster is needed from then on.
Distemper- A widespread and often fatal disease which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, pneumonia and neurological problems.
Parvovirus- A Highly contagiously and potentially fatal disease which may case severe vomiting and bloody diarrhea. It is especially dangerous in young dogs, but all unvaccinated dogs are at risk of contracting this severe disease.
Coronavirus- A contagious viral infection of the gasrointestinal tract which causes vomiting and diarrhea. Puppies are particularly susceptible to this disease.
Hepatitis- A viral disease which may lead to severe damage of the liver, kidneys spleen and lungs.
